  1. I enjoyed reading this book because of its many new and interesting facts. I think this would be a very helpful book for the grade 5 bridges unit coming up, because the information was well-said and clear. Also, the illustrations were fun and helped take the weight of nonfiction off the book. I am glad that this book was written in the form of a journal; the facts seemed more sequenced this way. However, sometimes it began to change from the writing of a kid to what sounded like the writing of an adult. I found this made the book confusing. Furthermore, I thought it was strange how in the journal, a girl of about 11, was going around the world, looking at different bridges, even during school. The only thing that made sense that she was a schoolgirl were the assignments that she had to do. In conclusion, I would recommend this book to anyone looking for information about structures, but with some warnings and precautions about its sometimes confusing story line.
